Most business software is technically fine and completely forgettable. I build things people actually enjoy using, because that’s what gets them used.
Before asking anyone to pay me to build their app, I built and launched my own: an iPhone app on the App Store, a Shopify app, an AI receptionist and a full management platform. They’re below, with what I learned from each.
You don’t need a problem
The biggest time-wasters look like “just how we do it”.
People who are brilliant at their job rarely have time to keep up with what technology can now do for them. So things work, the business grows, and hours quietly disappear every week.
I see it as my job to bring you the possibilities. You don’t have to know what to ask for.

You tell me how your business runs. You don’t need a tech brief or even a problem in mind: I ask the questions and spot what could be easier.

Fixed-scope quote
A short written plan: what gets built, what doesn’t, price and timeline. Nothing starts until you’ve signed it off.

I start with how it should feel, then work backwards to the engineering. It’s why my software doesn’t look like everyone else’s.
ICO registered
A UK limited company, registered with the ICO. Personal data handled under UK GDPR.

The person who designs it is the person who builds it, and the person who answers your email about it.
You own it
Code, accounts and data set up in your business’s name. No lock-in.

What people ask before they start.
I’m not sure what I need. Can you still help?
Yes, and that’s where most people start. Things are often going well; it’s just that some jobs take far longer than they need to, and nobody has shown you the alternative.
On a free call I ask how your week actually runs and point out what could be simpler. Sometimes it’s a feature in a tool you already pay for. Sometimes it’s worth building something. I’ll tell you which.
How much does custom software cost?
It depends on what it needs to do, so I don’t publish a price list. After a free call I send a fixed-scope quote: what’s included, what isn’t, the price and the timeline. No day-rate surprises.
If your budget is small, I’ll tell you what’s realistic for it, or point you to an off-the-shelf tool that does the job.
How long does it take?
A focused first version is usually weeks, not months. Bigger platforms are built in stages, so you can use the first part while the next one is being built. You’ll get a timeline with the quote, and a demo every week.
Who owns the app and the code?
You do, once it’s paid for. Accounts like the App Store, hosting and domains are set up in your business’s name, so you’re never locked in to me. We agree this in writing before work starts.
Can you get my app onto the App Store?
Yes. I’ve taken my own app through Apple’s review and kept it updated since, and an app through Shopify’s review. I handle the submission, the listing and anything the reviewers come back with.
Do you work with businesses outside Brighton and Hove?
Yes, anywhere in the UK. Most work happens over video calls and shared demos. If you’re in Sussex, I’m happy to meet in person.
What happens after launch?
Software needs looking after: OS updates, security patches, small improvements. I offer ongoing support so your app keeps working, and you can call the person who built it.
